Alt Codes

Occasionally, I want to use characters not on my keyboard. Typically, I’d search for each character separately and then copy and paste them where needed. While some apps have built-in features for special characters, each app varies, requiring time to locate and use each character efficiently. Instead of constantly searching for the right Alt code each time I need a special character, I’ve compiled a collection of all these characters I have used in the past.

Alt codes are a handy way to insert special characters that are not on your standard keyboard. Alt codes may vary based on the keyboard layout and operating system. It’s important to use the numeric keypad and not the numbers on the top row of the keyboard.

Some systems require numlock is enabled to use alt codes

Sadly, alt codes are not standardized across all applications, as application use various interpretations of keyboard inputs. This leads to some codes (alt + “988” = λ / ▄ ) showing up as different characters across different apps.
